IMAGINE. . .

"A Little Revolution Every Few Years. . ."

Imagine that the White House was under the control of a single party for nearly 100 years. Then imagine that both houses of Congress were under the control of that same party for those same 100 years. Imagine the stagnation, the absence of debate, the complacency. Imagine no one being held accountable, and no one willing to be responsible. Preposterous? Unconscionable? Unfathomable? Beyond your imagination?

Well, consider this…Since 1907, the Town of Hempstead has been under the control of a single party. Presiding Supervisor. Supervisor. Town Board. Lock, stock and barrel. Since 1907 – the year Oklahoma became the 46th State, Louis Lumiere invented color photography, and Katherine Hepburn was born – a single party, the Republican party, has made all of the decisions – from appointments to zoning – in the Town of Hempstead. No checks and balances. No voice of opposition. No minority report.

In 1907, Theodore Roosevelt was President of the United States. In 1907, the SS Lusitania was launched. In 1907, the Chicago Cubs won the World Series. In 1907, the first electric vacuum cleaner was invented, and Maytag introduced the first wooden-tub washing machine.

In 1907, nearly 1.29 million immigrants entered the United States. [On April 17, 1907, a record 11,747 immigrants arrived at Ellis Island.] In 1907, Rube Goldberg started work with the New York Evening Journal to begin a 60 year career as a cartoonist. His cartoons depicted complex "inventions" to solve simple problems. [Many of his inventions, we understand, are still in use today at Hempstead Town Hall.] In 1907, Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus was formed. [And face it, there have been continuous performances at Town Hall ever since!]

A single party ruling the roost over America’s largest township for almost 100 years? Imagine that!

Thomas Jefferson once opined, “A little revolution every few years is a good thing.” Well, if not a revolution at Hempstead Town Hall, then certainly, a little house cleaning with that electric vacuum – or with the greatest invention of all, the voting machine - is in order.
ELECTION DAY IS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8.
VOTE!

  1. Remember when Al Gore ran for President in 2000? The pundits said Bush won in part due to "Clinton fatigue" after only eught years in office. Well, residents of the Town of Hempstead are clearning suffering from "Republican fatigue." Unfortunately, it's taken 100 years.

    It's time for a change.

  2. With out change we can expect to hear and see the same mess. With out change we will continue to hear about consolidation and do nothing to consolidate. With out change we will continue to see a decline in our communities and an increase in illegal homes. With out change those of us who pay more in taxes for those illegal homes, illegal day workers and lack of code enforcement will now pay even more. With out change those of us who now know we need a different way to pay for education will be forced to leave our homes. The list is long an honest and there is no doubt, WE NEED CHANGE NOW. No change means paying more taxes for those who pay no taxes. No change means paying more for garbage than police. No change means supporting all of those friends and family members in the town while the rest of us figure how to make ends meet.

  4. NCRES4CHANGE, you live in a fantasy world. I suggest you seek medical attention immediately because I am concerned for your well-being. I am afraid of how you will react on Nov. 9th when Suozzi is re-elected along with all the other Democrates and Harvey Levinson wins the Town of Hempstead. Please stay away from sharp objects, high places, alcohol, and motor vehicles that day.

I really do feel bad for you. You are having a hard time dealing with reality. It must be difficult living in such denial. Your anger is destroying you. You are turning into Darth Vader!!

There is an Chinese saying that I feel is very appropriate for you: "That which you can not avoid, welcome."

  5. Reality huh?

Well maybe you can grasp this one, on November 8th the Democratic Party will pretty much cease to exist in Nassau County because this is the year they take back control of the County, the legislature and the TOH.

So all you whiny Democrats get ready to sell your houses and move to florida if you don't like it.

And I know what the next posts will be - the Republicans nearly bankrupted the County BLAH BLAH BLAH

Get over it mistakes were made and this is how it will be.

Because all of the lies that the democrats have been spewing are going to come back and bite them because they deserve it!!!

Harvey Levinson has no qualifications or experience to take on the TOH!!!

Tom Souzzi is arrogant and only does what benefits Tom - He does not care about the voters or the taxpayers - He is looking to move on to a higher office - He said so himself he wants a run for Governor, so why should anyone vote for a man that is not focusing his energies at the task at hand.

Your condition is getting worse!! You are now calling for the complete extinction of the Democratic Party in Nassau County on Nov. 9th. Clearly, you have stopped taking your meds. Only a delusional person would assert that the Democrats now control the Town of Hempstead. You can't "take back" control of something you never lost control of in the first place!!

Tom Suozzi was just selected by Governing magazine as the "Public Official of the Year". How sad that he will only get to enjoy this honor for just 5 short days!! Want to place a wager on when Greg Peterson is voted "Public Official of the Year?"

Your inability to deal with reality suggests a root cause that only years of therapy will be able to raise to the surface. Get help now. Please, I'm begging you.
