The Town Of Hempstead Is Closed Today

Homeowner Disposal And Trash Collection On Hold

We bet you didn't even know that the Town of Hempstead has a HOMEOWNER DISPOSAL AREA.

So that's where all the homeowners went!

From the Town of Hempstead website:

Holiday Schedule in Effect for Monday, November 12, 2007

In observance of Veterans Day, all Hempstead Town offices will be closed on Monday, November 12.

All communities serviced by Town of Hempstead Department of Sanitation should follow the holiday collection schedule. Communities serviced by Sanitary Districts should contact their sanitary district for pick-up information. On Monday, November 12, there will be no recycling pick up and the Homeowner Disposal Area will be closed.

The Receiver of Taxes Office will be closed on November 12. As the November 10 deadline for paying the first half 2007/2008 school taxes falls on a Saturday and the Hempstead Town Tax Office will be closed on Monday, November 12 in observance of Veterans Day, tax payments received through November 13 will be penalty-free.

All Senior Centers will be closed.

So take the day off, Hempstead Town residents. The Town Hallers did. Democracy is safe -- for the moment. Be advised, however, that come tomorrow, its business as unusual for Kate Murray & Kompany, and the disposal of homeowners will continue, unabated.
