Broadwater May Save You $300 A Year. . .

. . .But It Will Cost You Your Peace Of Mind And Our Long Island Sound

A MESSAGE FROM OUR FRIENDS AT CITIZENS CAMPAIGN FOR THE ENVIRONMENT:

CITIZENS CAMPAIGN FOR THE ENVIRONMENTACTION ALERT!
Tell the New York Secretary of State to SAY NO TO BROADWATER!!

Your Phone Call is Urgently Needed- the State’s Decision is Due Out Any Day Now– Please Call Her Now!!!!!

Secretary of State Lorraine Cortès-Vàzquez in New York City at 212-417-5803 and in Albany 518-474-4752.

Shell Oil is once again running a massive radio and TV ad campaign to promote Broadwater. New York State’s decision is due any day now. Don’t let Big Oil have more influence than the public- Call Secretary Lorraine Cortès-Vàzquez TODAY!

We’re in the final days of a long and difficult campaign. We have to keep the momentum moving.

The future of Long Island Sound will be determined by New York State in a few short days.

Governor Paterson and Secretary of State Lorraine Cortès-Vàzquez have until April 11th to make their decision on Broadwater and decide whether or not they support Big Oil’s interests or the Public’s interests. The decision can come any day now, so please tell the Secretary of State today to listen to the public and stop Broadwater!

Broadwater Energy, a joint venture between Shell Oil and TransCanada, is proposing to build an industrial Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) barge in the open waters of Long Island Sound, approximately 9 miles from Rocky Point.

How you can help!

Call Secretary of State Lorraine Cortès-Vàzquez in New York City at 212-417-5803 and Albany 518-474-4752. Please, if possible, call during regular business hours to speak directly with a representative. Tell her:
Your name, address, and town/city;
To “Say No to Broadwater"; choose an alternative outside of the LI Sound;
You are counting on her to stand up for the public’s interests - not Big Energy’s interests;
Why Long Island Sound is important to you, your family, and your community;
Why you believe the Sound is an extraordinary water body and should be protected for the public and not handed over to Shell Oil.

Please send a quick email to newhaven@citizenscampaign.org or to farmingdale@citizenscampaign.org with any response you receive from the Secretary of State’s office. It helps us track progress on the issue.

The only way we can win on this issue is if the State of New York hears from the public loud and clear.

Thank you for your action. Together we make a difference.

Sincerely,
YOUR FRIENDS AT CCE

  2. I called the Secretary of State's office in Albany. They said all calls are being forwarded to the NY office and that they had received a large number of calls opposing Broadwater.
