Sound Advice

CITIZENS CAMPAIGN FOR THE ENVIRONMENTACTION ALERT!

State and Federal Public Hearings

SPEAK OUT AGAINST BROADWATER!

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Army Corps of Engineers, the US Coast Guard, and the New York State Department of State need to hear your concerns and thoughts on the risky, costly, harmful Broadwater project.

The Broadwater project is undergoing final federal and state review. Now is the time to make your voice heard! There are two scheduled meetings in NY and two in CT where federal and state agencies will be attending to listen to your concerns and your personal stories of how you use the Long Island Sound and want it protected.

Let them know the Sound has special values that should be protected and preserved - not disrupted to accommodate foreign corporations.

TIME: 12:00 noon

Broadwater, a joint venture between Shell Oil and TransCanada, is seeking to place a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in the LI Sound, approximately 9 miles from Rocky Point. The LNG terminal would be permanently moored to the bottom of LIS—destroying 13,000 square feet of critical habitat for lobsters. The LNG terminal would also require 2-3 LNG tankers per week, requiring armed escorts and causing constant disruption to the waterway.

Directions: LIE to exit 63 North (Route 83), Go North on Route 83, At intersection of Route 83 and Route 112 make a Left onto Route 112, Continue on Route 112 until you reach the Harbor, Make a Right at the blinking light. The Village Center is the big red building on the Left.

Thank you for taking action to help protect Long Island Sound!
